While most of my life and education has been spent in the field studying wildlife ecology around the world, my greatest love has always been in the stories behind science. After graduate school at the University of Colorado, I decided to find new ways to share this love of scientific storytelling and created ScienceLIVE, a non-profit working with scientists to connect their work to classrooms through film, data-driven lesson plans, and the web. As director of ScienceLIVE, my role and interests quickly grew beyond creating classroom materials and have developed into full time storytelling through documentary filmmaking and photography. Through my training at Duke University I have been able to combine my experience in science with that of documentary studies, creating a unique approach to outreach and broader impacts.
